《历书》曰：“斗指东南，维为立夏，万物至此皆长大，故名立夏也”
立夏吃蛋是许多地方的习俗，
人们认为立夏时吃蛋可以增强体质和耐暑
在立夏日吃蛋拄心。
立夏节时，大人还会用丝线编成蛋套
装入煮熟的鸡蛋挂在小孩子脖子上
孩子们便三五成群进行 “斗蛋” 游戏
蛋分两端，尖者为头，圆者为尾，
斗蛋时蛋头撞蛋头，蛋尾击蛋尾，破者认输，最后分出高低
